ESG - Our Sustainability Strategy

Measures, Examples and Targets

As a family business, long-term, responsible action and sustainability have always played an important role in the Schauenburg Hose Technology Group.

Derivation of the ESG Strategy

Together with our specialist consulting and implementation partner Atlas Metrics, we developed our comprehensive ESG strategy in 2024. Following initial internal workshops, we carried out a detailed double materiality analysis. As part of a survey, we recorded the views of all relevant stakeholders (such as customers, suppliers, financiers and our employees) on our company and its impact on the environment, social issues and corporate governance. We then compared these results with our own assessments of the respective topics in a weighted system and created a catalog of relevant ESG aspects on this basis.

Ecological Responsibility

For the Schauenburg Hose Technology Group, the environmental focus within ESG refers to the ecological aspects that it must take into account in its daily business activities. These include the responsible use of natural resources, climate protection, the reduction of CO2 emissions and the promotion of environmentally friendly technologies and practices.

Renewable Energy Sources

In the efforts of the Group and all companies to operate more sustainably, we are already relying on photovoltaics as a significant source of energy. By installing photovoltaic systems on many of the buildings and facilities, we are actively harnessing the power of the sun to generate clean and renewable energy. This investment not only enables us to cover part of our own energy needs with environmentally friendly power generation, but also helps to reduce the environmental footprint of our activities. We want to take proactive measures to minimize the environmental impact of our activities.

Energy Efficiency

All machines and systems at manufacturing companies are designed to make optimum use of energy. Whether it's production facilities, cooling systems or heating systems, we invest in energy-efficient technologies to reduce resource consumption and environmental impact to a minimum. This not only reduces operating costs, but also promotes the long-term sustainability of all activities. The transition to energy-saving solutions helps to reduce electricity consumption and extend the service life of the equipment and resources used.

Education & Awareness-Raising

Raising employee awareness of environmental sustainability and integrating environmentally conscious actions and behavior into our daily work processes in order to promote long-term change in society.

Waste Prevention & Recycling

Reducing waste and recycling plastics from our companies' production processes is a top priority. Even today, most of the start-up scrap and rejects generated during production can be recycled. Our central research and development department is constantly working on the topics of recycling and waste prevention/reduction.

Durability & Quality of the Products

We rely on the use of high-quality materials and careful workmanship to ensure that our products are not only functional, but also maintain their quality over a long period of time. This extends the life of the products and reduces the need for frequent replacement purchases.

More then Theory

However, annual reporting on the topic of sustainability is not enough for us to take active action. We integrate relevant key figures into the monthly internal reporting of our operating companies in order to continuously improve our contributions to more efficient production and the reduction of CO2 emissions. For us, economic and ecological progress go hand in hand.

For example, every time we reduce production waste, we reduce production costs as well as emissions and waste. We ensure the implementation of our ESG strategy not only through a corporate mission statement, codes of conduct and guidelines. We actively pursue the achievement and improvement of predefined benchmarks in the relevant measurement criteria. In addition, we have linked the variable remuneration of management and remuneration components for production employees in our production plants to criteria that we consider to be particularly significant for achieving our ambitious targets as part of our ESG strategy.
